AFCON 2023: Iwobi in shock retirement from Super Eagles after Ivory Coast defeat

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, is said to be considering his future with the national team.

Sources have told DAILY POST that Iwobi is unhappy with the criticism he has received following Nigeria’s outing at the 2023 Africa Cup on Nations.

On Sunday, the Eagles lost the final 2-1 to host Ivory Coast, despite taking the lead in the first half.

Iwobi, who plays his club football for Fulham, featured for 79 minutes before he was replaced by Alhassan Yusuf.

After the game, the midfielder became the target of cyberbullies and trolls, forcing to him deleting all the media on his Instagram page.

Iwobi is now actively considering not playing for Nigeria in future games.
