Dozens of worshippers at a mosque in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, have been abducted during an attack by bandits on Tuesday morning.

The attack was carried out when Muslim faithful were observing the famous congregational Tahajjud prayers.

Tahajjud is special prayer being observed by Muslims in every last 10 days of the month of Ramadan.

According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared the incident in a post on X platform, the terrorists attacked the town at around 2am.

Makama wrote: “In the early morning of Tuesday at about 0200hr, bandits sneaked into Gusau Town and abducted several worshippers in a Mosque while they were observing tahajjud (midnight) prayers.”

The police was yet to speak on the incident as at the time of writing this report.
