The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, nearly 10 months after declaring him wanted for various criminal offences.

Auxiliary had been declared wanted in connection with offences including murder, attempted murder, arms dealing, armed robbery, and kidnapping, following a coordinated intelligence-led raid conducted by the police between May 30th and 31st, 2023.

A statement from the Oyo state police command read: ”On June 2, 2023, the former chieftain of the PMS, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, was declared wanted by the Oyo State Police in connection with multiple offences, including murder, attempted murder, arms dealing, armed robbery, and kidnapping.

”This declaration came following a coordinated intelligence-led raid conducted between May 30th and 31st, 2023, in line with standard operating procedures. 

”During this operation, a total of 78 suspects were arrested, comprising 49 males and 29 females. Some of these suspects were found to be serving different prison terms.

”Exhibits recovered from Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi’s residence at Diamond Hotel in Alakia-Isebo, Egbeda, under Egbeda Local Government Area, included:

  • Two SMG rifles with two magazines
  • One AK-47 Rifle
  • One Pump action rifle
  • Nine locally made pistols
  • Two English pistols with magazines
  • Seventy rounds of AK-47 ammunition
  • Three hundred and thirty-eight pieces of live cartridges
  • Sixty-two expended cartridges
  • Thirteen pieces of 9-mm ammunition
  • Nine Jack knives
  • Three axes
  • Four hundred pieces of long cutlasses
  • One hammer
  • One Walkie-Talkie device
  • One Army camouflage jacket.”
