In a move that has been hailed as a beacon of hope and mercy, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has granted pardons to 110 inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Service Custodial Centre in Kaduna, ahead of the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations.

The Governor’s gesture, which was announced during a visit to the Correctional Centre yesterday, has been widely praised as a demonstration of his commitment to justice, compassion, and human rights.

According to sources, the beneficiaries of the pardon include inmates who have shown good behavior, those who have served a significant portion of their sentences, and those who were imprisoned for minor offenses.

Governor Sani, who was accompanied by renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, and other senior government officials, also announced a token of N30,000 for each released inmate to aid their transportation and reintegration into society.

This move is seen as a significant step towards decongesting the correctional facilities and offering a second chance to those who have served their time.

The Governor’s action has been hailed by human rights groups, legal practitioners, and the general public, who have praised his leadership and commitment to the welfare of all citizens.

As the nation celebrates Democracy Day tomorrow, the people of Kaduna State have been given an extra reason to rejoice, thanks to Governor Uba Sani’s act of mercy and compassion.
