Nigerian singer-songwriter Skales shared his thoughts on Wizkid’s 2022 statement that “rap is dead.”

He did this on an exclusive interview with Hip TV. When asked about Wizkid’s comment, Skales said, “Wizkid has his own opinion, my own logic is everything has its time and season and there is going to be another recycle. If you are hot today, you might not be hot tomorrow.” 

Basically, Skales believes that musical styles, including rap, are subject to cycles. Cycles of popularity and decline, and what is currently popular may not remain so in the future.

He also points to the essence of adaptability in the music industry. As he noted, “if you are hot today, you might not be hot tomorrow.” These comments from Skales come at a time when the music industry is evolving. 

Ultimately, his comments is a reminder that the the music industry is constantly evolving and that what is popular today may not remain so in the future.
