POLICE in Ibiza have arrested a 32-year-old British man for allegedly having sex with a minor at a hotel on the island.

The girl’s mother alerted police after discovering she hadn’t returned home from a night out with friends and finding out what had happened.

The Brit, who has not been identified, is thought to have already appeared before a judge.

It wasn’t immediately clear this morning what the outcome of his court appearance was.

A spokesman for the National Police in Ibiza said: “National Police officers in Ibiza have arrested a 32-year-old British man on suspicion of a sex crime.

“The arrest happened on Sunday morning at a hotel in Ibiza Town.

“Officers responded to an emergency call and went to the hotel and on arrival spoke to the mother of a minor who told them that when she woke up, she realised her daughter who had gone out the previous night with friends of her own age wasn’t in her room.

“The complainants, the under-age girl’s legal guardians, had been able to track her down as well as the man she was with inside a hotel room.

“What officers have established is that the minor, who is under 16, was in a nightclub where she met an adult male who invited her to a VIP area where she drank alcohol with him.

“They subsequently went to a hotel room where they had sex.

“The age of consent in Spain is 16 and any sexual relationship with a person below that age is punishable by law.

“After he was arrested and processed by police, the British man was handed over to the courts.”

Meanwhile two British men have been arrested in Ibiza for allegedly robbing a £105,000 watch from a tourist.

The pair were detained along with a Frenchman after the victim was mugged outside of a bar in a “posh” area of the island capital.

They were detained on Sunday morning, although officials only went public with the arrest last night.

The holidaymaker, whose nationality has not been made public, told cops the attackers cut his wrist so they could snatch the expensive timepiece.

A spokesman Ibiza police department said: “National Police officers in Ibiza have arrested two British men and a Frenchman aged 34, 23, and 21, on suspicion of belonging to a criminal gang, robbery and forgery.

“The incident that led to their arrests last Sunday occurred on Thursday, July 4, when a robbery victim reported the theft of a watch worth £105,000.

The incident is believed to be the first of its kind involving British criminals in Ibiza, as designer watch snatchings are normally the work of Italian gangs from Naples, Moroccans and occasionally eastern Europeans.

Last month a British DJ appealed for help after being robbed of “irreplaceable valuables” in Ibiza.

Franky Wah revealed his plight to his 97,000 Instagram followers and received immediate support from the likes of award-winning Carl Cox.
